24 hours in 4 minutes – Blogathon the Movie
// August 2nd, 2006 // Personal, Tech
Those of you who were around during the ‘thon would no doubt have enjoyed giggling at the ever present webcam photos.
Indeed I think Dafyd, busted me early in the morning with one shot
What you may not have realised is that I kept an archive of every shot – 1 per minute for almost the whole 24 hours. So I’ve got a load of still images, a love for quick and dirty stop motion and a couple of hours on my hands … hmm …
Presenting, for your viewing pleasure:
Update: as this has been kindly linked from the main Blogathon site I figured it was worth sticking on YouTube to ensure you use their bandwidth instead of mine.
Alternatively it’s available in three sizes (just like those cool trailers from the Apple site):
- Low quality – 2.9MB MP4 – Suitable for those on Dial Up (100KBPS)
- Medium Quality – 11.3MB Quicktime 7 – Good for those on slower broadband (400KBPS)
- High Quality – 29.4MB Quicktime 7 – Almost the original quality for those who can’t live with anything less (800 KBPS)
Enjoy guys and gals and remember to turn those speakers on and UP!
For those with an interest in this kind of thing see below the fold for production notes.
Total frames used – 1,233 @ native resolution of 320 x 240
Production Time (video) – 1.25 hours
Production Time (audio) – 0.25 hours
Production Time (composite) – 0.5 hours
Render Time (all three versions) 57 minutes

That was so funny! Thanks for sharing!
Good times, good stuff.
Care to explain the picture of clouds or whatnot in one of the frames?
That was great! Thanks for sharing. I’m glad there’s no record of my blogathon webcam anywhere!
Novac, the clouds were added as I was messing around with the webcam overlay features. I wanted to see if I could put a black cloud over my head but couldn’t get the background right.
BB, Jaimie, Caryn and LaDonna – thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great fun! A worthy successor to the building of the gazebo – keep ‘em coming!
