Post to WordPress (or most blogs) from Word 2007 b2

Well this is of little interest to me personally as I already have Ecto to handle my bloggage and it’s doubtful this feature is going to find its way into Word for Mac but it’s a handy tip none the less.

You can customize Word 2007 to post to weblogs (follow the instructions found here) and, as it supports the MetaWeblog API you can post to MT and WordPress blogs with ease.

Another useful feature that has yet to be implemented is built in FTP or HTTP (WebDav) picture uploading. Considering the hassle I’ve had with Ecto’s uploading features this would be a major reason to switch! Uploading is promised “soon after beta 2” so keep your ears to the ground.

Of course it is likely that the markup output by word is a heap of shite but that’s par for the course by now.

Update: A few issues … well it is beta after all. The first big one is that the date is wrong. It showed this as being published in 1970 (no mean feat given my birthday in 1980) and I had to bump it in the dashboard.

Surprisingly though, the markup seems pretty clean. Looks like WASP and MS really have been talking to each other!

It was my pleasure. With all the new functionality in Office 2007 it’s good to get little pointers like yours.
