Life is good right now.
Yes, you did read that right – life is pretty damn fine.
It’s been a really tough couple first half of this year both physically and emotionally. To recap for those who haven’t been paying attention, I found myself sans job in January and had to move up a plan that had been in the offing for some time. The only thing I hadn’t factored in was the simple fact that – I was exhausted. From July to December ’05 I had been working silly hours and letting other aspects of my life get out of control. Come January and my motivation was at an all time low, my health was in tatters and the outlook was bleak. Effectively I was burned out and had little interest in getting things moving again.
I’m pleased to say that time has proved itself to be a marvelous healer. Six months on and the business is starting to shape up, the cash is starting to flow and my focus is starting to return. Of course I will have to be careful to ensure I take care of myself over the next year or so but things are brightening up.
This is due in no small part to the simple fact that Rubicon finally has a space to operate out of that isn’t my bedroom. It was never that plan to continue working from my old desk for as long as I have but the aforementioned lack of get up and go meant that I was rarely in a position to concentrate on premises and the hassle they entail. Now however, thanks to a good friend and some financial breaks, I can increase my focus by working in a space that is purely about work.
Another event that has lifted my spirits has been the “Network” starting to pay off. I’m by no means the most out-there person in the world but do have a number of valued contacts who it was always anticipated would provide me with further contacts and opportunities. I’m pleased to say that work is finally starting to flow through these channels.
The final thing that has really buoyed me up is the Rubicon.je website. Still under construction at the moment but it’s on track for a launch on Monday. I’ll let you know when it’s live so that you can let me know what you think.
To sum up – it’s Summertime, And the living is easy …

BOUT TIME MATEY.
