Saw Four Tet at Big Chill in 2004. They’d obviously asked him to play because the stuff from “Rounds” would go down a storm and was very much in keeping with the blissed-out pastoral loveliness. But dear old Kieren, not one to be pigeon-holed, obviously had other ideas and spent the whole set subjecting us to as much unbearable thudding, clanging and white noise as possible. Is this better than that?
Erm,
well it’s mostly stuff from Rounds (4 of the 9) and Everything Ecstatic. Some of it can be a bit heavy but there are some gems in there – Smile Around the Face is pretty dinky, you’ve got a lovely mix of She Moves She and one track from Pause that’s nicely done. I agree that the EE stuff is a bit more heavy duty than Rounds but it fits a certain mood!
