Blogathon 2005

Thanks to all of you who’ve already pledged. If you click on the link on the left you can see all the people who’ve decided that just $1 wasn’t enough and $10 was more their bag. THANK YOU!!!

There’s still plenty of time to pledge a little, in fact the pledge system will remain open until Sunday so you can even wait until I’ve started posting my ass off tomorrow.

I would like to tell you a little about the charity but not the facts and figures surrounding the work they do, you can get those off their website, but rather a little about what makes this place sooo special that I chose them above and beyond all the other Charities on offer.

Firstly, whilst many people refer to the Durrell Wildlife Conservation Trust as Jersey Zoo it is a great deal more than that. It’s the only place in the channel islands where you can see gorillas, Orang-utans and a host of similarly exotic critters. Its the hub of school trips, tourist bus loads and romantic days out (fancy a snog by the flamingos?)

It has even extended its influence into the blogosphere, inspiring the name of a certain sibling’s site.

In short, alongside all of the amazing work the DWCT do for the preservation and study of species around the world, they are also a ventricle in the beating heart of Jersey, a magical place for families, young and old. They are also tragically underfunded and struggle on an annual basis to find the monies that allow them to provide the highest quality of life to their animals that they can.

So thank you, all of you, for your efforts so far. You’ll be rewarded by a 24 hour pile of pap starting tomorrow afternoon. If you want to come along for the ride my first post will offer you a range of ways to get in touch.

Rob

    Blogathon

Rob is taking part in Blogathon 2005 tomorrow. The idea is that, around the world on that day for 24 hours, bloggers start to post, and post like they’ve never posted before. One post every 30 minutes is the absolute minimum. Rather him than me. …
