Virtual PC & Fedora Core 2

// January 27th, 2005 // Personal

Another chapter in my ongoing struggle to get to grips with Linux…

I had a brainwave today. I have never truly got Linux running on my Laptop due to issues with the WiFi card and don’t know enough about the OS to do the kernel reompile I needed to fix it. So I junked the partition and gained 20gb of space for Windows to play in.

Over the past 2 days I’ve been building a number of Virtual PC’s. One for SharePoint and another for Biztalk Server 2004 (because I can) and it suddenly occured to me that if Virtual PC will let me run Windows Server 2003 on my XP desktop why not Fedora?

Well it turns out there are several reasons why not … but the install is now underwy in textual mode and shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to complete… then all I have to do is apply the list of modifications to get X-Windows to run without crashing the Virtual System. But then I will have a truly portable Fedora install to do my development owkr on. And the best bit is, if a new toy should somehow arrive I’ll be able to port it straight across!

Yay me and Yay my genius…
