I hate being part of the majority

It seems that the PEW Internet and American Life Project have published a report which deals with the proliferation of blogs throughout the Internet.
One of the things that first caught my eye was the typical blogger profile:
• Men: 57% are male
• Young: 48% are under age 30
• Broadband users: 70% have broadband at home
• Internet veterans: 82% have been on-line for six years or more
• Relatively well off financially: 42% live in households earning over $50,000
• Well educated: 39% have college or graduate degrees
Damn. that’s me all over! Well apart from the “Relatively Well Off” bit.
More interesting to me was the section dealing with RSS and XML syndication. After the sheer volume of wonderful writing that the bloggy phenomenon has made available, RSS is the most exciting offshoot. It has massively changes the way I use the web and I can only hope that it is adopted by more and more sites. The concept of subscribed content is one that has been around for a while now but there has never been a framework to tie it all together.
Finally, for those of you who are continuously dismayed at the massive share of the market held by Glen and Andrew and the other uber-bloggers, take some comfort in knowing that 63% of all Internet users are still up for grabs so keep at it people. If your content is relevant to someone then that person will eventually find you!
