I was going to wait until the redesign was up but that may be delayed by a week and I wanted to post this now…

My Amazon Wish List

Not dropping hints – just being blatant.

Move over Palm… I’m going Lo-Tech!

Technology is starting to die on me again… My phone has a problem with it’s navi-nubbin™ and won’t scroll down which means I now have to go up to get to the A’s… very odd. That’s not a problem to be honest as it has just been replaced by an Ericsson T39m which should do the job nicely.

But my faithful PDA is also getting a bit venerable … it seems to have problems retaining screen calibration which is getting to be a real pain. So I was looking for a replacement…

Now to tell you a couple of things about me that you may not know.

Virtual PC & Fedora Core 2

// January 27th, 2005 // No Comments » // Personal

Another chapter in my ongoing struggle to get to grips with Linux…

I had a brainwave today. I have never truly got Linux running on my Laptop due to issues with the WiFi card and don’t know enough about the OS to do the kernel reompile I needed to fix it. So I junked the partition and gained 20gb of space for Windows to play in.

Over the past 2 days I’ve been building a number of Virtual PC’s. One for SharePoint and another for Biztalk Server 2004 (because I can) and it suddenly occured to me that if Virtual PC will let me run Windows Server 2003 on my XP desktop why not Fedora?

Well it turns out there are several reasons why not … but the install is now underwy in textual mode and shouldn’t take more than 2 hours to complete… then all I have to do is apply the list of modifications to get X-Windows to run without crashing the Virtual System. But then I will have a truly portable Fedora install to do my development owkr on. And the best bit is, if a new toy should somehow arrive I’ll be able to port it straight across!

Yay me and Yay my genius…

Sexual Frustration … and Penguins?

// January 27th, 2005 // No Comments » // Personal

Maybe I should resurrect my round up posts tat I used to do on Monday morning… Only I could do them on Thursday and call it “Over the Hump”

Anyway, in the spirit of free linky love I would like you all to look this way for a story of solitary isolation, sexual deprivation and penguins … oh and put the coffee down before hand!

Tomorrow nothing will go wrong

It’s been a week … well almost a week of fire fighting.

I was going to give you a list having written it out it was a little too close to the line I draw between bloggable stuff and work stuff.

However tomorrow is Friday, it’s dress down day and nothing will go wrong … honest

HELP my chest hurts!

Listen to this [audio:whee-oooh.mp3] and tell me what it makes you think of… I’m just curious as to how many people will recognise it…

The breadmaker dilema

// January 25th, 2005 // No Comments » // Personal

(aka Rob has way to much spare time on his hands)

There has been a localised outburst of discussion about the benefits of owning a Breadmaker. Markiss was involved as indeed were my parents. Now whilst I agree that the benefits of home baked bread (machine or otherwise) no far outstrip any financial gain you may achieve through making your own the question sat there, refusing to depart like an obstinate floater after the nth flush…

Just how long would it take you to save money if you bought a bread maker?

I’m alive!

It’s ok, the cold hasn’t killed me. But now I need to eat dinner – hang on

Ah that’s better. Sorry for the silence folks … I’m not dead.

But I am very busy. There is mucho stuff on at work, a couple of interesting things on the non work horizon and another classic Rob related design delay …

But what I can tell you is this. I am going to Durham in Feb … I’m going to Prague in May and I’m going to hell in a bobsled in the mean time.

That is all.
