Spam spam spam spam it’s lovely spam!!!

// November 30th, 2004 // No Comments » // Personal

I’m sure we are all blighted by it on occasion. My poor little sister is being driven mad by it. Markiss collects it and Jeremy gives points out based on it.

But all those of you who lament the state of your inbox should spare a thought for the stupidly rich and well known… after all, you could be getting 4,000,000* spam mails a day!!!

*That’s something like an email for every dollar he earns – it’s a hard life.

Happy Birthday to you…

Well if that isn’t today’s America in a nutshell

I don’t know what is. He’s been commander in chief for over 4 years and he never managed to visit the neighbours?

iMAC, iPOD, iFONE?

Well itâ??s possible. I recently added Russell Beattie to my regular reads list and a recent post caught my eye. Russell believes that it is possible that Apple will enter the mobile phone market within 18 months. I certainly canâ??t fault his reasoning and am certain that if hey (Apple) did produce a handset that it would raise the bar for phone designs across the board.

In fact the more I think about it the more I am amazed that Apple havenâ??t already tried. Itâ??s a market dominated by style over substance with the cool factor being the difference between the successful and the failing. Iâ??ll certainly be keeping an eye out for more information but now all we can do is sit back and wait.

OPML XSLT Transform

// November 26th, 2004 // No Comments » // Personal

Right this may sound a little techy (and it is) but bear with me. I’ve been working on a way to get my blogroll file from Feed Demon (an OPML file) transformed into the kind of list I use for the blogrolls on my side bar. And I’ve done it!!!

I haven’t implemented it on this site yet as there are another couple of bits I need to do first but I have given it a project page which can be found here – OPML XSL transform project.

If you want to use it and would find it useful then all I ask is that you leave a comment to give me an idea of the code’s proliferation.

Enjoy.

PS: Helen, sorry about this, normal posting will resume shortly.

Holy cow that’s a lot of pixels!

Itâ??s one of the new envelopes to be pushed and amazing leaps and bounds have been made over the past 3 years. Progress in digicam development has been so extreme that you can now laugh in the face of those puny Megapixel Mortals for you can be a GigaPixel God!!!

Anybody care to place a bet on the advent of TerraPixel technology?

Happy thanksgiving!!!

I have to say I’ve never quite worked out why this holiday exists… it always struck me as a rather greedy way to get another day off just before Christmas and I certainly find very little to celebrate in the historic background of the holiday.

But general cynicism aside I wish all of my American readers a Happy Thanksgiving and offer you this little piece of entertainment to keep you occupied during the day (after you’ve stuffed yourselves so full you can’t move that is)…

And this one is for Dan

Who recently complained that my website is full of nothing but technobabble.

Well Dan, never let it be said that I don’t listen to my readers. I’m pleased, nay proud to introduce you to a website that I’m sure you’ll be making good use of after you move:

Butts Meat – located just outside of Swindon and one of many interesting places to visit.

Top Firefox tip of the day

If you need to look up the meaning of a word, don’t reach for the dictionary… don’t even bother firing up dictionary.com.

If you have a Firefox window open simply type “dict word” where word is the word you wnt to look up and Firefox will do the work for you.

(you can drop the quotation marks!)

Creating Accessible Forms

// November 17th, 2004 // No Comments » // Personal

Sorry to start the day with a techy post but this is a very useful article for anyone who works with HTML forms on a regular basis.

Web Usability – Accessible Forms

What I find really amazing is that so few of the websites out there actually make use of these guidelines.
