Well, for some reason I’m back at work even though I finished yesterday. Apprently there is an Xmas party in the office at four thrity so I’ll hang around for that.
In the mean time I can while away a few moments with some … CHEESE!!!
1. What was your most memorable present you received as a child? Good or bad.
I’m afraid I’m with Joey on this one. I really can’t remember. I think the best has to be my first bike (which I trashed a couple of weeks afterwards by riding into a tree) I had fantastic fun being taught to ride it and well never forget the moment when I looked round and realised that mum wasn’t holding on to the bike any more. She smiled and waved and I waved back and then fell off, but it was a beautiful memory up to that point.
2. What is your most favorite holiday memory? Tradition?
Memories of the holiday’s all seem to blend into one big Christmas montage. Traditionaly there is the making of mince pies on Christmas Eve, the house has been decorated, there is some decent seasonal music on the stereo and the is a large pot of mulled wine on the stove. Who eveer wants to help out is given something to do and the house is filled with the scent of freshly baked pies. Then we finish the wine, wish each other well and go to bed, ready for the followings days events.
3. Hot cocoa or hot apple cider?
Cider if it’s spiced. I’ve never really gotten into cocoa, its a littlo too instantly soporific.
4. Egg Nog. Yes or yuck?!
Can somebody please explain this to me… what the hell is Egg Nog? We don’t have it over here and I have seen it on god knows how many US tv shows and read of its consumption in books but no-one has ever told me what’s in it.
Based purely on the very silly name I’m going to say Yes… but I reserve the right to revise that opinion once I know what it is!
5. What’s your favorite Christmas song or carol?
Ok, let it be said that I HATE most Christmas music. Espescially the modern shite. Every year, we troll out Wham, Paul McfuckingCartney and Slade, and every station in the nation pipes this stuff endlessly for 3 weeks. What gets me is that most of these stations wouldn’t dream of playing music by these artisits at any other time of the year. So I think you can gather that the modern music really isn’t in with a chance here.
No I have one CD of Christmas choral chant, all of it is in Latin and it is all wonderful. No that’s what I call a decent festive sound. It sould be heavenly music, remeniscent of hordes of angels … not some glam rock band from way back when…
6. What’s your favorite Christmas movie and why?
The Nightmare before Christmas… its the only one I’ve seen which doesn’t threaten to turn me into a diabetic through sheer overdose of sugary sweetness. There was also a the quite dark and very funny rendition of Dicken’s A Christmas Carol with Bill Murray in it but that has to come in second to Mr Burton’s aimated master piece
7. Do you spend the holidays with your family or with your friends or neither?
Hmm, Christmas has always been (and hopefully always will be) a family occasion. New Years is my time. I normally try to head back to see old friends. That said, I am building up to New Year’s in New York…
Right, thats your lot for this week.
If I don’t see you before then have a very happy Christmas (insert seasonal holiday of your choice here) and my best wishes for the coming year.

Hmm, eggnog. Imagine a very, very thick, very rich concoction of milk, eggs, sugar, and vanilla, garnished with nutmeg. Most folks usually spike it with rum or whiskey (I believe rum is the traditional spirit of choice).
There’ll probably be some left in stores when you get to New York. Should be in the dairy section. Grab a quart and give it a go.

Hmm, I have to say it sounds *interesting* . I’ll have to give it a whizz at some point but for the time being I’ll stick to mulled wine … mmmm that mulled goodness
