Muppet in a van …

// August 29th, 2003 // No Comments » // Personal

A while ago, I promised to begin reporting of some of the crazy (and occasionally evil) drivers on the fair ilse of Jersey.

Todays tale concerns the driver of J102900 – a Jersey produce van whom I enccountered first, parked, with hazards on, on the outside of a BLIND BEND! Obviously the driver is truly worthy of this page. But it gets better. As I slowed to look for a safe point to pass the van, the hazards switched off and he pulled out! What followed was one of the oddest journies I’ve had in my life. The van would drive at a resonable speed but occasionally (about every 2 mins or so) would slam the brakes on and come to a complete stop… then the van would move off again and the cycle would begin again… muppet!

Comments and apologies and poems (from toby)

First off, some of you may have noticed that there is now a comments facility on this blog. I’m not too sure if it works properly yet but its better than nothing.

Secondly, I must apologise to all those (well 2) people who signed the guestbook. It has since been accidentally deleted (really!) so i’ve lost your messages. I think i’ve got a back up somewhere and so will endevour to put them back when I get time.

And now, a poem

The New Al Capone
My name is Al Capone,
I live in Millenium Dome,
I shoot holes in the roof,
I’ve got a photo here as proof.

I sit there, right on top,
There’s a cafe and a shop,
Drink tea on the veranda,
Accompanied by a panda.

I prance along the meadow,
‘Twixt poppies, grass and hedgerow,
I piss into the lake,
I eat a slice of cake.

I swim upon the ocean,
Drink my magic potion,
Catch a shooting star,
Drink spirits in the bar.

Fiddle with my bits,
Stare at young girls’ tits,
Eat an ample meal,
I murder, rape and steal.

Growing ever fatter,
Talk, dicuss and natter,
Investigate a crime,
(I solve them all the time).

Jump into a pit,
See a snake, get bit,
Die upon my bed,
Drunk and off my head.

OMG – Macromedia MX 2004 – looks like MM have done it again…

// August 28th, 2003 // No Comments » // Personal

I have sinned and must be punished.

Whilst reviewing a beta of Frontpage 2003 (and amidst rumours of a M$ takeover of Macromedia) I casually commented that FP may become my editor of choice in the not too distant future. Then MM go and announce:

Macromedia MX 2004

What can I say – is this everything dedicated Dreamweaver users have been waiting for? Could it finally offer a Standards complaint rendering engine? Have they sorted the lame FTP client and shoddy CSS editor (present, unchanged since version 3)? YES YES YES YES YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

Very excited … have become welsh.

And another good excuse to get pissed

I think this is a must visit. Camra Jersey 2003 Beer Festival. Needless to say I’ll be steering clear of Skullsplitter … well maybe a pint or two!

Right, its time to do some blogging

Hi all,

Sorry (again) for the lack of posts but there has been little worthy of note these past few days. First off can I strongly recommend that every body installs a copy of the Google Toolbar! This is a fantastic little add-on to your browser. There?s so much it can do.

Secondly, I was amazed to fond that, as well as Google.co.uk there is also a Jersey specific version of google. I?m not sure what the advantages are ? other than being able to search for all sorts of cows and potatoes.

The latest site design is now up and running with only one glitch to work out. I?ll be having a look today but failing that I?ll just have to ask my good buddies in the forums

I?m also going to be working on the links page with a view to actually making this site useful again!

Facelift – botox for a blog site!

Big News

I’ve updated the site again (this is the main reason for the total lack of posts recently). I am still in the process of testing but hopefully this is a fully XHTML 1.1 compliant site. Certainly it’s the first I’ve done using only divs for layout.

As you can see very little that is new has been added. The only thing of any interest is the ‘Work in Progress’ section. I will be adding another bit to the site though ‘ the Sofa will return.

If you notice any odd behaviour over the next couple of days then bear with me. I’ll post again when I have tested the whole site.

Thanks

Rob

Listening to the Beta Band and tryig to make a boring ole PSF form completeable online.

Hi All,

Sorry for the massive delay in posting anything new. Whats been happening? Well, the regulars to the site will have noticed that I am now running this through Blogger which is kind of conveniant. I’m still looking for the best bloggin software and as soon as I get my SQL server up and running I will be moving the whole lot to a better system.

Right, what’s been happening? Well first off there was the party on saturday. This was a fantastic success with loads of people enjoying the wine and the food. Probably the highlight of the evening was the arrival of the Jersey Constabulary – at 10:30! It seems that the neighbours were annoyed by some of the guests’ rendition of Fly me to the Moon (which for the record was bloody awful). However, the offending minstrels had left by the time the boys in blue arrived so these 2 very bemused policemen wlaked round the corner to find about 10 people, sitting round the table, sipping wine whilst Frank played softly on the stereo! And my favourite little detail of this scenario is that, one of the guest at the party actually works for the states in the area of noise pollution and audio law enforcement … tee hee

Mood: Ugh! Wednesday

Cigarettes: 1.5

Music: Medievil thing I did for Medi 313

Why is it that mankind has designed the toilet so that it naturally resonates at the average flatulent frequency? It almost as if we want the whole world to hear our farting in alpen horn amplification. Anyway, I overslept this morning … i forgot to set the alarm that wakes me up. This resulted in mad panic this morning as I rush around trying to get my shit in gear. The reason for the alarm oversight was due to my being up till 2 in the morning trying to remove the Blaster Worm from my systems. Whilst I appreciate the sentiment behind the worm, is it really necessary to have it hose my system? I’d be more than happy to be a (unwitting) participant in a DOS attack on the M$ site but crashing Windows XP every 30 seconds is just annoying. I know it sounds stupid but I do wish virus writers would test their code before deployment. In this case the worm may have gone unnoticed until it had chance to launch the DOS. As it is the whole world now knows about it and M$ have defended their site.

Markiss has added a couple of new bits to his site including this incredibly disturbing photo! Richard … you’re a sick, sick guy. Oh and my evil creation is due to be launched on the world later today … YESS Man will be appearing on his site at some point. Rest assured i’ll post the url as soon as its up.
